To matthew5, 31 is a so-so, especially from what I seen on some threads.

Hey everyone! I’m applying to Columbia as well, probably as ED. I like Columbia because it
's in the heart of NYC, there’s just something about New York that I love, maybe it’s the great food! Some basic stats are: GPA 3.84, SAT 2310 superscored. Think I have a chance?

I will be applying ED!

@victavic, Your stats are fine. It all depends on what else you bring to the party.

I’m still debating on whether to apply. I really like being in big cities and would definitely prefer it over some rural place, but the huge core is somewhat daunting :P

It’s really a high reach school so I must wait until my scores come out…
I love the grad journal school!!! But I decide to study political science in undergrad… I’ll apply RD for Columbia and ED for Barnard because I think I love Barnard more than Columbia because of the small size…

Good luck to everyone!

I’m applying ED!

4.0 GPA, lots of AP classes and a 33 ACT (retaking it in a few days to try to boost it a bit). Do you guys think it’ll hurt my chances that my school doesn’t rank?

Good luck to everyone applying. :)

Can someone predict my chances of getting in ED?
(i know “predictions” arent that accurate but do i have a chance?) thanks guys !

unweighted GPA: 3.81
weighted GPA: 4.17
SAT (superscore): 2320
SAT subject tests: 800 Math lvl 2, 800 Chem, 800 Chinese
AP’s: took 5 AP tests already and all 5’s (taking 4 AP’s senior year)

not judging from extracurriculars and essays, just estimation based on academics
i know extracurriculars are important but I’m too lazy to list it ahaha

…im applying as well because i guess i’m masochistic and love columbia

Well xDeviliciou
Your grades definitely prove you’re capable of getting in. If I were you, I’d focus on my essay to make it amazing because that’s usually the “make it or break it” part, despite what anyone says.
Everybody gets high grades, but not everyone gets in… So it’s usually the essay, how you rank within your class/school/district/, and overall if you show passion for something.
All In all, your grades are good enough for Columbia.

Just sent in my ED app 2 days ago! Still holding onto that sliver of possibility for acceptance
Who else has already applied?

Commonapp is in, sending in supps tomorrow. So nervous!! 2320 sat. 800 math 2 780 bio 770 history. Valedictorian of 432. 4.0 uw. 11 APs after this year. Essays are pretty great. This is my dream school!!! I can’t wait another month to find out!

Hey, everyone! I already sent in my application to Columbia University, but I’m not so confident now. Can someone honestly give me an evaluation based on these stats?

All honors in addition to AP’s

There are some other things, but hopefully you guys could give me an accurate evaluation if possible.
C

@Dante12, I wouldn’t call myself an expert or anything - I’m a ED hopeful, same as you - so please take my opinion with a grain of salt. I think you have some awesome EC’s, and you’ve shown passion for math/science, which is always a great plus. The problem is that your GPA/SATs/ACT are slightly below the norm for Columbia acceptees. Hopefully you wrote some stellar essays to balance those out. But otherwise, it looks like you’ve got about as good a chance as any of us (I’m applying with a 34 ACT and 3.96 GPA, so not exactly a dream applicant either). Relax and don’t worry about what you can’t change! Just be glad you gave it your best shot and you won’t regret anything. :D

Good luck!!!

Bump.
Where is everybody?

@WannaBeDocc I’m from Cincinnati, Ohio! (I hope that’s the question you were asking). I am pretty anxious, but have forced myself to contend with every possible decision (personally, I’d rather have a straight up rejection than a deferral!). Its funny how the college admission process can be so unpleasant sometimes!

But a deferral still means you have a chance:)

i applied… but im so stressed about my app b/c it all depends on this terms grades, or so my college counselor makes me to believe. I’ve been losing sleep over it aghhhhh

@bigred14 - SAME! I’ve been feeling terrible since I lost my 4.0 last year to stupid AP Calculus…should’ve saved that class for this year.
And I’m fairly certain I’ll get another B this semester, too. My GC told me not to worry about it since my course is so rigorous, but the problem is that she’s still young and new to the job, so I wouldn’t exactly call her experienced. sigh Oh well, we already applied so there’s no use griping. Hopefully Columbia will look past our imperfect GPA’s nonetheless!
