Columbia Class of 2020 RD Thread

For people who got a likely letter: if you’re not uncomfortable doing so, can you post your stats? I just kind of want an overview of the applicants who got these letters uwu

@mybarra congratulations! Did your letter say anything about CP Davis or something? Mine didnt

If I have a likely letter can I still get rejected come March 31st?

Those who got likely letters, would you mind sharing the date you submitted your commonapp?

I got a likely! Biology major.

You can find my stats on my profile somewhere.

When you accept your chances of getting into an ivy is moot :)) :((

Congrats to all who received likely letters. My son applied ED and was deferred. I was wondering if anyone who got a a likely letter was a deferred ED candidate. Also anyone who received one apply to Columbia College and one last question, hope it isn’t offensive but did anyone white with no diversity hook receive a likely letter? My son has a 2390 perfect grades amazing extras but no hook.

@iagoboy1 I was deferred and I got a likely letter but as I say, my case is quite unique as i am an athlete and got recruited. But with that score I cant see him getting rejected

@Anonymoose3 were you an applicant to Columbia College or Engineering and Applied Science? Also, were you an applicant with research experience?

@clueless96 - Columbia College! Yes, Intel ISEF 2 years, Intel STS Semi.

@iagoboy1 - Columbia is really selective and so they turn down applicants with perfect scores/grades all the time. However, lack of a likely letter doesn’t mean your S won’t get in!

@Anonymoose3 that’s pretty cool. I’m sort of disappointed. I was a 3 time ISEF finalist and two time grand award winner. Research was the only way I was going to get in to college and I get the feeling that that is not going to happen, since likelies have been sent out to research applicants. Btw, we may have actually met at ISEF… I was there in 2015, 2013, 2012. I was in the Computer Science category the first two times and in the Systems Software category in 2015.

@clueless96 - Not true at all. Likelies go to a tiny minority of applicants, and I was 1,000% not expecting this (didn’t know which schools did it/when they got sent out). I was there 2013 and 2015. My region doesn’t send middle-schoolers, so not 2012.

Don’t stress about it! I’d say just be patient and wait until March.

@Anonymoose3 that’s wonderful! If you don’t mind me asking, which category were you in? I was an international. Do you remember meeting an Indian with a turban. If you did, that was me. It’s nice to know that we’re in the same boat again.

Oh, and I forgot to mention I applied for Philosophy-Economics, Gender and Sexuality Studies, and Religious Studies.
