Columbia dance major

Hello, I am interesting in applying for Columbia dance major. I have questions about schools. So, for those of you who are currently student or alumni please answer. Thanks!

I want know about specific curriculum. I heard that academics take more proportion.

Dance audition- video?

SAT and SAT subject test score

Portfolios are much more important than academics?

Columbia University? there’s also a Columbia College in Chicago. Assuming you mean the former,

 1. Are you talking about admission? Yes, academics are the most important thing, because,
 2. There is no audition for the Dance Major,
 3. Higher than high is preferable
 4. There is no portfolio. You can submit the arts supplement if you like.

Not student or alum, but my daughter applied last year, and has friends majoring in dance there–the major is actually housed in Barnard.

There’s no dance major at Columbia. The major is, as mentioned before, housed at Barnard. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend applying to Columbia because you want to take class at Barnard.
