Sat-1520(790 math/730 rw)
AP-n/a
GPA UW-4,5( 5 scale)
GPA W-n/a
Rank-3/160
International student
Extracurriculars: Founder and President of 8 clubs devoted to human/gender/LGBT rights and environmental problems.

And recommendations
History teacher 10/10
She adores me, and she said me what did she write in recommendation, and I really enjoy everything
Geography teacher 10/10
My teacher from 6 grade. She knows me very well. Always helps me with my clubs and projects. Knows my dedication and passion.
Counselor 10/10 She just simply also adores me and always says that I’m the most exceptional student that she has ever met . Essays
Idk. I personally consider them as pretty good and compelling, but who knows what admission committee will think.
I suppose my main weaknesses are GPA and low income family, and strengths are recommendations, extracurriculars, and my country. I’m from Post Soviet Country, and there are really few people who plan to go to USA. Generally speaking, people in my Country tend to hate USA since its quarrel with Russia, so, as far as I know, there are no students from my country who study at Columbia U, and Columbia is looking for demographic and nation diversity. Also my scores. In my country knowledge of English is really seldom. For example, my sat score is one of the highest in my country.

My D’s brief data.
CC-Computer Science
ACT: 36 (Twice, the first time without writing and the second time with writing)
SAT II: 760 World History, 800 Math II
AP: Already taken 12 (scored about half 5 and half 4), 3 more APs on the senior year
GPA: 4.0 UW
Rank: unknown, but should be among the top. The school is among top 30 public high schools on US news all the time. Never was below 30 as far as I remember
Essays: unique

Extracurriculars: I feel the list is solid though maybe not exceptional. Devoted member of the student government, school clubs, and local communities for four years persistently. With 3-4 leadership positions and schoolwide campaigns (wins and losses).
Recommendations: never see the letters. But the teachers and counselor knew her very well. Hence I believe the letters must be good.
Interview: fine (she felt it was not her best performance)

Do we think decisions are coming out December 13th this year?

@sphcstryy That’s the hope!!

It’s pretty likely, but we’ll have to wait to see what the admissions office say.

100% FOR EVERYONE ON THIS THREAD guys you all have amazing stats we can do this

Does anybody know how much EDing to Columbia helps? are there numbers I mean

It obviously helps since it shows that you are making a commitment to the school, but a hefty chunk of the acceptances are legacies and athletes, so it’s still unbelievably difficult. In terms of numbers, last year’s ED acceptance rate was 15.9% compared to an RD acceptance rate of 4.3%.

Hey! Is Columbia making y’all send in tons of required documents too? If so, are you guys already done submitting documents? I’m worried I’m late in the game. Quite a long process having to submit so many things about taxes and whatnot.

@heykat789 Yes. If you apply financial aid, you need submit many tax-related documents. Based on the Columbia web site, however, there is no deadline for the submission.

Guys it’s officially December

less than 2 weeks away!!

Hey does anyone know how good Columbia is either for mechanical or chemical engineering. Is it a reputed program? Do I have good job opportunities from here for engineering - mech or chem eng?

Has anyone heard about an official notification date? I read something that said that last year people’s guidance counselors got letters saying the date.

My interviewer told me Dec 12th-15th but not 1 specific day. I think we are getting an update on Dec. 6th

How do you know we’ll get an update on the 6th?

Idk anything I just want a fast forward button lol

lmao from the date that i’ve predicted, we have slightly less than 11 days to go!!

I’m so nervous!! Best of luck to everybody on this thread!
