I’ll be alone in my room (boarding school), and I’ll record my reaction and share it only if it’s a defer or acceptance. I’ll tell my friend right away. Her result for another university comes out the exact same time as mine.
Do you guys know if leadership in high school matters a lot to Columbia? My high school is very biased towards STEM and I’m a social science students, so all the leadership stuff never fit me and school rejects ALL my leadership application even though I’m a good student and all.
I’ll probably be alone and I’ll record my reaction just for the memories (agh super nervous). The first person I’ll tell will probably be my mom since she’ll most likely be downstairs lol, then my friend group chat.
Question: why is our thread so short compared to the other ivies?
Guysss 5 days to go
@AwaitingApplicant131 Ya our thread is really short
okay so i am freaking out lol. can anybody help me with my chances? i got a 33 on the ACT, 102.52 out of 100 gpa weighted (converts to a 4.0 unweighted), three season varsity athlete, captain of my basketball team, intern at a engineering company, NHS and national spanish honor society.
i have also received a four year navy rotc scholarship and been assigned to columbia. however they say that receiving the scholarship does not impact my acceptance.
im taking 5 aps and took 2 last year…this is a very short description of me but anybody that can calm my nerves would be greatly appreciated lol
Anyone know if having a grandfather alumni is any help?
@anonymous0512
Yes if its a really really really close match between you and someone of similar achievements. Columbia is famed for having one of least legacy-influenced admission among Ivy League schools (which I guess is fair because some of my grandparents never graduated primary school, let alone from a famous university). It’s a whole different story for Harvard, where you have a GIANT advantage if you’re a legacy.
@hopefulsenior109 You sound like a great applicant. I think everyone here is extremely nervous, so just know that we’re all in the same boat as you. Good luck!
Did we need to submit mid year reports? I didn’t realize that was a thing for ED until I read the FAQ on the portal and now I’m freaking out. If I don’t submit will it likely influence their decisions?
@kevintocollege I thought midyear reports aren’t due until Feb.1
This is on the FAQ:
“We request that Mid-Year Report/senior grades are submitted by February 1, or as soon as they are available. If you have completed high/secondary school at the time of application, it is not necessary to send in new documents.”
4 more daysss. Anyone got advice on how to not think about decisions until the 13th??
Family friend gave me this tip: spend time on the website of each of your RD schools this week and remind yourself of all the great things about those schools that drew you to them in the first place. Works - just spent 30 minutes obsessing over which dorm I would pick at my 2nd choice lol!
does anyone know why this thread is so short compared to other schools?
Yeah I was also wondering why this thread is so quiet… is it possible that less people applied this year?? Probably not likely though lol ?
Perhaps one of the reasons is because our decision date is a little later? Idk but I know Cornell is tomorrow and Stanford was Friday? Maybe?
Just made my account for this thread! Anybody else having trouble even focusing on RD schools let alone trying to do their applications? Columbia is all I can think about and it’s messing me up haha
Yeah, I’m having a hard time not getting anxious. My friend just got accepted to Stanford Friday, and, while I’m happy for him, it just stressed me out more about Columbia’s ED decision. These next few days are gonna be stressful.
@anonymous0512. sorry- but having a grandfather that attended will not really help. mom or dad who attended the college or fu- yes, but just a bit.
