@mamabear336 That’s good to hear! I want to send a new transcript too, but I am unsure if it is an okay thing to do in my case because I already sent in my midterm report haha
I tried to find the group but it didn’t show up on my FB search.
hi I have some questions. I got accepted on May 1st, and I am wondering when I can receive my financial aid package and what is the deadline for me to make a decision whether i go or not ?
@Coooooo Columbia needs three documents: FAFSA, Planned Enrollment Form, and the GS Scholarship Application. By submitting those, they can determine how much to offer you.
@myname99 if you search for “Columbia GS Fall 2019” it’s not there? Without quotations.
I found it. Had to look under groups.
A FYI for any future applicants.
So if anyone is worried about submitting SAT scores way past the deadline or submitting old scores, do not worry. Apparently, admissions never received my SAT scores and I still got accepted ( i guess my scores got lost somewhere). I just need to resend them.
So don’t worry about rush reporting scores to make the deadline ( like I did lol), waste of $30.
Also I received my Entrance Credit report and 36 out of 47 credits will transfer, the credits that did not transfer are my 2 online classes and 1 pre calculus . This credit report did not include credits I earned this current semester. If anyone if wondering where to get the Credit reports, I got the report through email and it was in my spam folder, hence why i’m just finding out about it
P.S I go to BMCC
@jennysong well yes, in general you don’t need to submit any original documents or have your score sent for being admitted. As long as you upload your score and digital copies of your transcripts into the portal, they can start to review your application and you can send the originals afterwards.
Just so nobody is confused: you will still need to submit your test scores in order to be admitted. But apparently sending the official ones can wait
Does anyone know when the next round of decisions will be?
@jennysong You will submit your final scores for this semester to have those credits considered too though, right? The biggest downfall at GS for me is how many credits I stand to lose in transfer.
@mamabear336 Yes, those transfer credits are subject to change to count this current semester I’m taking, I’ll need to send my transcripts after my grades are in…one word of advise, from what Ive read, they only accept math credits that are calculus and statistics. So I def recommend taking them before applying.
@jennysong too late for me I’m afraid… as a writing and lit major at bmcc I only had to take a very basic math, and it was online. I’ll be taking many core classes at GS should I be accepted lol. I wish I would get my admissions decision soon just so I could get a credit report and make a decision between GS and NYU Gallatin!
@jennysong did your transfer credit come with the decision at the same date? And may I ask where you got that information they only receive ones for calculus and statistics? I am a math major and that worries me a bit cause I took some advanced math courses
@jennysong hi, I’m also from BMCC and get accepted. I am thinking about taking couple summer classes that can be transferred. Did you transfer any LIN, POL or CIS classes?
@SMSNYAL During the academic planning session, it was mentioned that we may transfer in Statistics and Calculus classes and it would be able to fulfill part of the quantitative/science Core requirements. However, if your intended major is math, I’m sure they would be open to transferring upper level math courses as you can transfer in some credit towards the major when you’re coming in.
I applied for fall semester as early decision and was admitted on May 1. when I log in to financial aid website, I can’t see any financial aid options. Anybody has this problem and who can tell me how can see my financial aid options?
@qwer88659901 They have everything hidden under a menu in the upper left corner (I think) of the screen.
Thank you
@TheholyAx I’m currently taking CIS 200 right now, so not sure if it’ll transfer until after I submit my transcripts,
