@bluethinker Just some kind of error. What I was seeing on my portal wasn’t reflected on her end, she was just able to confirm that they only had one score for me, not two. I’m thinking that random things get generated by accident on the portal when they start looking at our documents ?♀️
@bluethinker
Hello, just wanted to know if you are an international that requires an F1 visa… Do you have any information on how long it would take to acquire a visa in time if they release the results by the 15th?
@Rom811 Hi! I do need an F1 visa, yet I am not sure as to how long it will take to get one. I am thinking about the idea of calling and making some sort of pressure. I still need to talk to my manager and let them know that I will leave, but if I don’t hear back from Columbia next Monday, I might apply for Summer 2020
@bluethinker Oh okay I see. Have you considered Spring 2020 as the alternative (rather than summer) though? I’ve been calling, but each time they say that the application is still under review. Did you apply to any other colleges in the U.S?
I’m considering both terms, lol. I just want to get into my dream school so bad! And, no, this time around I applied to Columbia and that’s it
Wow! I really hope that it goes through for you!
Does anyone know if the decision just pops when you open the portal or if there’s a video or anything different to it? I am scared that if I get rejected and I open it at the office people nearby could tell that I didn’t get it lol
@bluethinker from what I’ve seen on the instagram, it’s just a digital acceptance letter that you can select to open
I did not get in, apparently in their system it says I unsuccessfully applied in 2018 and since I did not get in, I am not eligible. What bothers me is, I cancelled that application and emailed them before I started this process to make sure this would not happen. I am beyond disappointed.
Good luck to those who are still waiting for a decision!
So sorry to hear that @bluethinker. Wish you the best in the rest of your endeavors! I have a question tho…did you apply for financial aid? If you did, did you receive a Columbia ID number when you were filling out you International Student Aid Supplemental form?
@bluethinker I’m sorry to hear that. If I were you I would call their office immediately to inquire about the confusion, that seems terribly unfair.
Anyone else hear? It’s Wednesday and was hoping one of us might hear. This is crazy!
I emailed them the screenshots where they confirmed my eligibility in March, I tried calling but it was late already. I’m planning on calling tomorrow, but I feel so defeated at this point. I can’t believe that this is how it ended, they didn’t even review stuff like my essay or the portfolio I worked so hard on.
I really hope this decision isn’t final, at least not with the complete review of my whole application
@bluethinker if you have screenshots proving your eligibility I think they’ll be at least receptive to reopening your application
@mamabear336 I just don’t see how our applications have been done for so long and they haven’t given us word yet. No explanation really makes sense
I’m sorry to hear that there have been so many weird issues with people’s applications! I really hope they get back to all of us as soon as possible-- I’ll post if and when I hear anything. The responses here have made me a bit paranoid as a piece of my application was received on July 4th, so I’m hoping that my application will still be reviewed and that isn’t held against me.
Update: I called them this morning and, unfortunately, the person who answered my emails and explicitly stated that I was eligible to apply for this term, answered the call and told me that it was a mistake on my side because I was not specific enough on my email (?) and that I would have to wait until 2021 to apply, which of course broke my heart. I don’t know what to do at this point. I would greatly appreciate it if you could provide any sort of advice
@bluethinker not sure what to tell you. It seems like they’re sort of taking advantage of you, but they have what we want so I don’t imagine you have any leverage there.
I hear decisions should start coming in by Monday. Is there ever a chance Columbia won’t let you know (e.g. you’re rejected)? I remember reading the past decisions thread and there were a few who did not hear from Columbia even past July.
@aogiri I would say no, but seeing how they’ve handled our applications so far gives me no faith that they will offer a decision
I was told I would get my decision no later than the 16th. If I am still waiting, a rather openly furious call will have to be made. This process is has been nothing like the admissions team made it seem. But of course only an Ivy League program for non-traditional students is getting away with it.
