@FuzzyPeaches22 You actually called and that’s what they said to do? Are the rest of us supposed to know to do that? Thats so weird. So not like… 3rd quarter grades, but current grades? How bizarre.
My counselor received an e-mail about the likely designation and she shared it with me. Nowhere does it ask to send additional grades besides the mid-year report, which appears as downloaded on the commonapp. So I am curious about that as well… @FuzzyPeaches22
@VW1965 I know! It was super weird. Can someone call them and confirm??
@ProximaCentauri - I did apply to UChicago RD, and it was one of my top choices, but I was waitlisted. Slightly bummed, but I’m getting excited about the opportunities at Columbia. Congrats on getting into both!
Anyone going to the Science Research Fellows chat next Tuesday?
Ok @FuzzyPeaches22 I called and asked what the midyear review was, and they told me that they’re just going to look over our applications again and I think just use the counselor’s Midyear Report from the Common App. I specifically asked if there was anything I needed to do for that, and she told me to get excited about coming to Columbia! Haha. If you guys want to call and confirm, I’m sure we’d all feel better about it haha.
@fuzzypeaches @VW1965 When I received my likely letter near the end of February, I called several times and still was somewhat confused. They told me to have my counselor to send an update of my grades from this semester (in which they said they usually receive these near beginning to middle of March), but my counselor was not allowed to add these to the common app. My counselor decided to email Columbia, and received a reply saying that there was nothing else that was needed to be sent. Since then, I just decided to no longer worry about it haha.
If you don’t get a likely letter/email is that indicative that you won’t get admitted?
No. Relatively few likely letters are issued vs. total acceptances.
Anyone here a John Jay scholar? My financial aid application says “John Jay Grant”
@fuzzypeaches22 I believe this is the sourcing of your financial aid. When did you receive financial aid package? Shouldn’t that come with decisions on the 31st? Or did they notify you previously that you were a John Jay Scholar?
@Mianna Yep, because John Jay scholars get the John Jay grant too! I asked for my FA package earlier because UChicago already gave me a really generous one and I wanted to compare the packages asap.
Is anyone else still waiting for FAFSA to be processed and sent to Columbia?
Thanks @fuzzypeaches22 Is that how you found out you got designated a John Jay Scholar or were you notified before?Are you ED or likely letter?
@Mianna Yeah that’s how I found out. I did a search on cc and apparently people usually find out on the admit day? I’m likely letter!
@Ostinato1689
I’ll probably be on the science scholars chat. Do you know what kind of chat it’s gonna be? Just audio or with skype?
