Columbia RD Applicants 2018

Don’t freak out, the “check your portal” email that went out today went to absolutely everyone on the list (I got it, and I’m already accepted via likely letter). It’s not a sign of rejection I promise.

Didn’t get the email regarding finaid. A deferred applicant here.

Did people who didn’t apply for financial aid get the financial aid email?

^ no we didn’t.

I am almost certain that whether or not you received an email in the past few days does not reflect on your decision whatsoever. It’s just a notification of the release date. The people who did not apply for financial aid (like myself) received this:

Dear ----------,

Thank you for your first-year application to Columbia University. We are nearing the end of our application review and will soon notify candidates of our decisions.

The Columbia community is committed to environmental responsibility; in keeping with this commitment, we will provide some admissions decisions only online, not via regular mail. You may request that a paper copy of your decision letter be mailed to you after you receive it online; further instructions will be available when you check your decision. We plan to post all decisions online on Thursday, March 27, 2014, after 5:00 p.m. (EDT).

I got both. I doubt it means anything.

No. It doesn’t! I remember my Harvard portal changed a few minutes before everyone else’s and everyone started debating about whether it meant something. But I got deferred … So much for false hope! Universities send out notification date emails to everyone! And Financial aid emails too! So unless you have got a likely letter, there is no indication of you being admitted it or not.

Guys can someone help me? I’m nervous because I won a really prestigious award at the end of January and I’ve started a really successful club raising awareness of international women’s oppression, but I never sent an email to my prospective colleges updating them on my new “things”. Is this bad? Is it too late to email? Have I really messed up by not updating them? I didn’t even know you could do that!!

^ I think it may be too late as decisions are coming out in 4 days. But there is no harm in emailing them. Just in case!

I think I’m just going to give them a call tomorrow, as you said, just in case. I know they’ve probably already decided my fate, but who knows!

I had gotten like two messages in my portal , one was the PLEASE NOTE one and the other one was them asking me to provide them the foreign tax returns but I think it’s something they send to all internationals . Sadly .

Did anyone else’s Columbia account stop showing the documents and stuff? When I log in, it just says the dates it should be available. Same for financial aid–I can’t see the documents anymore. Bad sign?

@locostacos No. The system was only available till March 21st. No one should be able to check their account at this time.

@book05 That’s true for financial aid, but the app itself was supposed to show documents through tomorrow.

Oh didn’t know that. Still I wouldn’t take it as a bad sign.

All of my financial aid information also disappeared from the FA portal.

I also can’t track any of my documents through the main portal, even though it should be available until tomorrow.

just a couple more days left… i seriously have a bad feeling :(

I never received an email with my temporary PIN. Anyone else have this issue?

@plt222, don’t worry. It’s not just you.
