So today I received a letter in the mail from Columbia University encouraging me to apply to this dual program for undergraduates (I think). The thing is that I don't speak French, which apparently isn't a requirement, and I'm interested in a medley of topics - namely, international relations with a focus on Asia, premed and economics. Does anyone have more information on it?

From what I understand, about 30 undergraduate students are chosen and spend their first two years in France majoring in something usually humanities-related. Then these students come to the Columbia campus and major in something else typically humanities-related. Can anyone tell me if it's worth applying considering my situation? I'm interested in studying abroad in Asia as well, and this program might not allow that. And premed would be difficult to cram into two years.

Also, how does this program compare with the Huntsman program at UPenn?

This is a very late response, but I believe the application deadline is not until January 2 so…

Sciences Po has 7 campuses and apply to just one. I think three are available for the Dual BA. The campus in Le Havre is described with the following

"Le Havre, which was founded in 1517 by Fran

Does any body know if the internet application site is up-to date. I did not get any mail about whether they received my application and when i go to check it says not receives/processed.

I don’t know if i should call the school and check or what

Dear jmommy.
I asked one of the admission officers and she said that due to a high volume of applications, students will have to wait until all the applications are processed and reviewed.

apparently last year they started calling for interviews in feb- based on other threads from CC- so will wait and see
Any body has any data on how many will they accept this year?
thanks

I applied too and I’m very nervous. How much research have you guys done about the program, compared to other similar undergraduate courses? And which campuses did you applied for?

I have done a great deal of research as i feel this program is just awesome. I am interested in the asian studies so have chosen Le Havre. Which campus have you applied to? Are you french speaking? Have you heard back from them at all.

Last year they let people know in March timeframe according to college confidential posts- i don’t know if anybody has heard anything this year at all

I’ve done some research and went for one of the information sessions. Getting a chance to study in France and New York in two incredible schools is simply incredible! I applied to the Reims campus! I’ve been learning French as a third language for about 6 years now.

I believe they’ll accept around 30 people, just like last year?

hi chasing pavements
i did not attend any sessions in person but am very interested in the program. They dont release data on how many applications they got last year and how many they accepted. I really really like this program so very anxiously waiting.

please keep the update posted on this thread and this applies to others as well who hear anything back

I applied too, my gosh it’s one of the best programs ever.
jmommy> I applied to Le Havre too! I’m fluent in French but apparently everything is taught in english.

I haven’t been to their information session, but my counselor got the brochure though, and I believe they have now 60 places.

Hope we’ll be hearing from them soon…
Good luck to all!

PS: if we are rejected from the program, will be considered for admission at Columbia and Sciences po separately?

I think you had to send them an email separately if you wanted considered for GS program if rejected.
They take 60 students a year but 30 per term- is how i understand it so for fall its 30 only.
Has anybody heard anything so far- i guess its bit early but who knows-- somebody might have…
super nervous… as this is a great great program

"While students may not apply simultaneously to the Dual BA Program and other undergraduate schools or programs at Columbia University or Sciences Po, highly qualified students who are not offered admission to the Dual BA Program due to enrollment limits may be offered the option to be considered for another program.

If you would like to be considered for general admission to the Sciences Po undergraduate program if you are not offered admission to the Dual BA Program, please email amy.greene@sciences-po.fr.

If you would like to be considered for general admission to the School of General Studies if you are not offered admission to the Dual BA Program, please email gs-admit@columbia.edu. "

On a side note, just so you all know… from what I learnt during the info session, the dual BA students actually aren’t limited to the 3 campuses they listed. They admitted 2 or 3 students last year to the Paris campus - possibly because they were 1) fluent in French and 2) intended to do something Science-related for their latter years in Columbia (so they’re getting Science credits from another uni in Paris). I believe they look at it on a case-to-case basis!

really hope we can get some news soon! bonne chance

I think that if we are rejected, both Sciences po and Columbia will look at our applications and then decide wether or not we are to be considered for general undergraduate studies, if you have ticked that box in the application. And only fall enrollment for the program.

Really messy post (also my second ever on CC), it’s so late. Sorry.

Hi
So are you doing your High school in US or in Sweden, last year some people heard about interviews in February. Keeping my fingers crossed. I wish you the best of luck
