Can anyone please help me clarify a couple things about Columbia SEAS? First off, if i first decide to major in engineering but back out later on, is it still possible to choose a major from Columbia College?

Also, how good is Columbia SEAS in chemical engineering? It doesn't rank in the top 10, but is it still very good?

Short and long of it: no. To “switch” to a CC major, you have to first apply to get into CC as a transfer student. The University views these two institutions as separate, and thus if you’re part of SEAS, you’re part of SEAS and not CC. Therefore you can’t switch majors between the colleges easily.

Do they give preference to you over transfers from other schools though? And how hard is it to get in from SEAS to CC, do you know?
