If I am applying to the Columbia SHP, what materials are good for preparation and what should I know going into the exam?
The science section is honestly just basic regents questions- I’ve heard some of them will even be directly ripped from that year’s regents (not too sure about that though, and that wasn’t the case with the online examination in 2022). They factor in your grade as well- for example, they don’t expect a high school freshman to have much knowledge in physics. Math is also general regents stuff, a lot of trig and alg 2. As for the challenge math questions, I’d say look at AMC and other high-level, Math Olympiad, gifted-esque questions available online. However, I do preface all of this by saying not to worry too much regarding studying. It really is the kind of test that you can’t really prepare for; just trust yourself that you are at an advanced level and you’ll most likely be set. Worked that way for me, at least. Good luck!!
