Nice. With Manhattanville, it might be HYC or HPC soon ;) or at least the HYPMSC will finally be Columbia and not Caltech! hahah...

God, that's an eyesoar. It's 10x worse than Lerner, which is both an eyesoar and non-functional.

Isn't HYPMSC usually Columbia, not Caltech. After all...CC has a 9% acceptance rate while caltech hovers above 20.

Yeah I usually say HYPC especially since I consider HYP far worse options than Columbia, and I mean Columbia not cal tech.

As far as most science buildings go, thats pretty much the norm nowadays. I remember going to RPI, V.Tech, and a couple of other tech schools and that kind of architecture is commonplace.

I haven't been to those schools, but do they sandwich a modern glass building in the middle of what was a quad separating 3 classical McKim buildings from each other?

3? It's being built on the edge of campus, over the former tennis courts between Havemeyer and Pupin. There's no quad-destruction going on here. Of course, it's still ****-ugly.

Putting a huge building on top of tennis courts absolutely kills the quad and takes away a ton of airspace.

actually you'd be surprised. i dont know why there is such a big trend in this style but they tend to pop up in the middle of really pretty, brick buildings.

Nice new building.

HYPC????

Don't you mean... CHYP or CHYPS

HYPSMC refers to MIT and Caltech. Sorry.

Who cares what HYPSMABCD means.

Columbia in my heart > H+Y+P+M+S+ every other letter in the alphabet

Interesting spelling of "eyesore"

But wow, that building sucks. They should stick that in M'ville...

Bad building decisions are compounded when your campus is 32 acres (not to mention setting the bar incredibly high with that gorgeous neoclassical campus)
