Columbia Transfer 2015

Just wondering if any of you all know when decisions will be released?

I’m just getting really, really anxious right now…I just want to know if I’m rejected, waitlisted or hopefully accepted sigh. I know they usually send out a PIN a few days before they release the decisions but I don’t know how much longer I can wait…

You said you had a 3.33 GPA earlier. Taking this and the fact that Columbia takes approx 6% of transfers into account it is safe to say you should not hold your breath. Know that no matter how much you think about this time will not speed up, though it may feel slower.

Perhaps in the mean time read Frank Bruni’s new book Where You Go is Not Who You’ll Be. It’s quite good!

And know that there are many more Columbia rejects (many of whom have done amazing things!) than Columbia students/alumni - some of whom will have their Columbia acceptance as their greatest achievement.

Wishing you some peace of mind,
~A Columbia Reject

@slights32 that 3.33 GPA is from a few courses I took in high school for college credit. It doesn’t have my high school GPA factored into it. They transferred this GPA to the current university I am at (it accepts high school college credit) but Columbia says it doesn’t consider it as my university GPA because they were taken in high school :stuck_out_tongue: I recently found out I actually ended up getting a 3.5 exact at the very end of high school when I had to send in my transcripts…still low, but better than I expected.

The reason why I’m really anxious is that I did REALLY GREAT this year at my first year in college. I had a 3.8 GPA Winter quarter 2014 and sent in my transfer mid term report a few weeks ago that also reflects my mid term GPA spring quarter (3.6) so that’s why I have some hope sigh.

Thank you for your insight though- I agree with you there are many rejects who have done great things, and I’m sure you have too. Your response did assure me that my life won’t be over if I don’t get in, and thanks for the recommendation, I will check it out~

If you don’t mind me asking though, how did you handle your reject?

I have some hope, but I also want to mentally prepare myself for what most likely will happen-especially since it’s a school that has all the programmes and etc that fit what I want to do so gosh it is my dream school blah.

I think you need a more Zen attitude. Consider that being accepted to Columbia only affects part of your life, while being accepted other places does equally the same. Life will play out regardless of acceptance or rejection. If you get hung up on things like this, you will never find peace within yourself. External measures shouldn’t be a measure of internal progress.

Signed,
A likely reject (too)

@whatisbusiness Well I hope you don’t get rejected haha, but yeah you are right indeed. Things will work out in the end.

Good luck to you though~

It says on the website that the results will come out no later than May.15th. I am applying as a SEAS transfer and I heard my friend got admitted in April. I am so nervous because maybe my late decision letter foreshadows my rej. I am hyper-anxious now! Can’t even focus on my finals…

Ah he got admitted already? Never knew it was rolling or did he send it in really early? I wish you the best of luck @hyacinth65 I just need to be at a hardcore liberal arts school like Columbia sigh so I’m so anxious too!! :frowning:

@gymasticsfan321 ugh…just got to know that he applied as a high school graduate. (sorry for misleading you) What a relief! But still, I am anxious about the decision letter. Wish you good luck too!

Too old to transfer next year :-\
