I'm not sure about this, but is it possible to transfer from Columbia SEAS to Columbia College? Does that count as a internal transfer, or do I have to do a direct transfer?

you are evaluated on the same grounds as everyone else in the sense that you dont get an advantage by being in SEAS.

well, you do get an advantage in that you already go to a fairly prestigious school (that is, Columbia SEAS), and they know that you're a good student.

You totally get an advantage. There is a myth going around this board that it internal transfers are impossible. Someone who has done well in SEAS and has a change-of-heart stands a very good chance of switching to CC. You're notgoing to have a 5% chance like the regular pool.

It's not really a myth... it used to be extremely difficult to get into CC from SEAS (a couple of years ago and most years previous, the acceptance was around 1/20 or so). What you really need is decent class standing and a real reason to want to transfer into CC, which, in the not-so-distant past, very few people had.
