Does anyone know anything about this tuition strike at Columbia?? I’m not sure I want to send my daughter to a school where there are 3,000 students who are so unhappy with the university that they are willing to risk not paying tuition. Thoughts?
I saw this too. Is there any reason that Columbia didn’t lower tuition this year like other Ivies? Definitely not a good look.
My son is a sophomore at Columbia and he has been speaking with us about withholding tuition. Frankly, I’m considering it. It’s ridiculous that a school like Columbia would charge the same price for online classes. We have been very frustrated with the Columbia experience so far.
Does anyone know why Columbia hasn’t already offered a discount? I know some other schools did, and it’s obvious that the quality of online classes isn’t nearly what you would expect from an ivy league institution. Rock on to all the students who are refusing to pay for such a subpar experience!
I am not sure that a radical strike is necessarily the right solution, but what do I know? This definitely makes think twice about Columbia though.
I read an article about it this week after my daughter brought it to my attention two weeks ago. I’m definitely considering it! I wonder why Princeton and other Ivy leagues were able to lower tuition but not Columbia?
I saw an article about this in the Guardian last week! Honestly it seems like the students have pretty valid concerns… I was thinking of applying RD, but the fact that it’s so much more expensive than most other schools is discouraging. I’d rather go somewhere cheaper where they actually care about students.
I’m wondering how this could affect ED applicants and this period’s acceptance rate…
