I'm curious to learn more about these programs beyond the general information on the website. How many John Jay and other scholars are selected each year? What are some of the benefits?

The program is very selective, with about 3% of each incoming class recieving the distinction. Your financial aid package is gauranteed to have all grants and no loans. You will also have access to "connection dinners" where you will be able to meet with prominent alumni and special internship openings.

I got John Jay.

congratulations!!

Is there any benefit to it if you're not on financial aid?

Rabi.

On an unrelated note, does anyone know if there's a Columbia equivalent of Harvard's www.prefrosh.net? Are there resources available for admitted students? Is there even a webpage/log-in at Columbia's website?

Rabi is the most prestigious of all the scholar programs, albeit only available to CC students interested in science. Only about 10 of them are chosen every year.

Cool; does it mean that you have to stay in science?

Also, what other scholar programs are there besides Rabi and John Jay?

Edit: Never mind, found it: http://www.studentaffairs.columbia.edu/scholars/index.php

Kluge.

i don't really understand what the benefits of it are though, and why you're awarded it.

kluge. yep, no idea either.

How prestigious/selective are these scholarships or fellowships?

rabi. I don't think I'm going though, but I got very excited when I found out the rabi scholars have their own lounge. or something like that, it sounds kind of cool
