****Columbia University Class of 2021 Regular Decision Thread****

decisions are on March 30

I received one (I applied to engineering) and it was the biggest surprise ever because I didn’t know that was a thing! But then again Columbia hasn’t seen my midyear grades yet (my senior year grades are the same as junior year, except slipped from an A- to a B+…in a math class :/)

Also, I had my interview two days ago, and it was just okay, not good and not bad.

So, I don’t know if the likely letter will still hold up when it comes to admission. The website says as long as you maintain your academic performance, you’ll get admitted if you got a likely letter, but I don’t know if I meet those requirements.

I kind of wish I hadn’t gotten it because I was so sure I wasn’t going to get in and I was content with that, but now that I know I have a chance, it’s stressing me out.

just got my likely email! does anyone know how many people get them?

Which majors did you guys apply as (people who got likelies?)

Do the letters show up in your portal?!

My D just got a likely letter. It doesn’t show up in the portal. It means you’re in like any acceptance this time of year they are always conditional on maintaining high grades and staying out of trouble - so congrats!

Can students who got likely letters join the FB group?

@emli8100 I applied for the Neuroscience and Behavior Major.

I got one too. Likely letter receivers have pretty much a guaranteed acceptance (as long as your grades don’t drop off a cliff and you don’t get in any trouble; to be honest they can’t see your second semester grade). It is extremely rare (maybe 1 in 1000, just guessing) for a likely letter receiver to not be accepted. Congrats to everyone!

@emli8100 I applied as a physics major

What kind of people get likely letters? Is it mainly athletes and STEM people, or is it evenly spread out?

Did everyone who has received likely letters so far all apply to the Fu School? Or were any from Columbia College?

My D got the Likely Letter today afternoon! We are so Happy !

I just received my likely letter via email as well!! I applied to the engineering school as a biomedical engineering major :slight_smile:

@daytonanerd I applied to Columbia College and received a likely letter.

@y90y90 Good to know. What major did you list?

@daytonanerd Psychology

I applied to the engineering school and received a likely letter today. Does anyone know what this means for Egleston Scholars?

Does internationals also get LLs

Yes (I got one from the Engineering school and I’m international)

To all those, including international students, who received likely letters, were you all offered an interview?
