****Columbia University Class of 2021 Regular Decision Thread****

Good luck, y’all

By URM I’m actually talking about ethnicity… like for African AMERICANS and Hispanic AMERICANS. If you are black but from London you don’t get the ‘hook’ for your ethnicity.

@ammielove so what you’re saying is that everyone from the UK, for example, is put into the same ‘bucket’, irrespective of ethnicity? So ethnicity only applies to domestic applicants? Also, I thought ‘hooks’ referred to legacy, outstanding contribution such as sport etc and ethnicity was more about having representation from a diverse racial and cultural background. Is ethnicity regarded as a ‘hook’?

Ethnicity is the biggest " hook". Then there’s first generation to go to college, etc.

@yorius Actual URM is the biggest hook and is only for American minorities. International students hook would be that their country is under represented at a certain school. That might raise your chances.

@snicks1234, thanks for the clarification.

it sucks to be a poor international… Kinda sucks to not being able to go to your dream school… Congrats in advance to everybody that gets in, would’ve loved to spend the years with you

Are you all able to login to “track your financial aid?” If so, what does the page say after you’ve logged in?

@hhjjlala Same. I think everyone has access.

@hhjjlala I thought it meant something.

None of the portal stuff ever means anything. I wouldn’t get yourself needlessly worried over it. Just look at the Yale thread where people are freaking out about whether or not they can access the admitted student only link…

When article 50 has been triggered and the £ is falling against the $ and ur total financial contribution is becoming less affordable by the minute…

@ammielove Columbia is so expensive. Even if I get in, I can’t go.

@TheShortSon yeah same, I’m just hoping tomorrow goes well and I get offers from other places but it’s wishful thinking

Good luck everyone for tomorrow!

I am petrified for tomorrow. But even if I don’t get in, I have many great options. Good luck everyone!

Yeah good luck guys! I’m so excited for all of you. Whether your dream college is Columbia or not, I hope you end up somewhere as awesome as you are.

lol it just sunk in that tomorrow is Ivy Day… I’m so glad I got into Georgetown because otherwise I would be freaking out right now haha. Good luck everyone!!

@ammielove yes. It’s all about having options. $-)
