Columbia University Early Decision DATE

Does anyone know the precise date that we find out our ED results? (By Precise Date, I mean like, i.e. Dec 11, etc).

Thank you so much

You've already posted this twice. This is your FOURTH identical thread on ONE PAGE. I don't know how much more explicit of an answer you want; as people have told you in previous threads, and as people have said in multiple other threads if you will take one minute to do a quick board search, none of us know the exact date yet and we're all freaking out as much as you are, we're waiting for the email in early December that will tell us what the exact date is. You will find out along with everyone else through an email. Columbia isn't withholding any information from you that they're disclosing to us only.

nicely said.

i heard it comes out tomorrow ;)

what, the email that tells us when we find out?

OH MY GOD you've gotta calm down.

Yes - here goes. An e-mail is sent to us soon. (i.e. first week of December) It will say, "Hey y'all, we've made our decisions. You'll find out on the __ of December." Then, on that day, which will definitely be before the 15th, we will check our e-mail and receive an acceptance, rejection, or deferral.

How can they notify us tomorrow or even the first week of December (this coming week) about precise the day we'll see our decisions?

We all received mail yesterday saying that they want everything that's missing RECEIVED by December 4th (first week of December). I'm guessing it'll take them MORE time to make decisions?

Does anyone know whether they first look at all the applications first then compare and contrast with other applicants and THEN finally make a decision? or do they just make the decision after reading yours?

Also, when does the envelope saying you got in arrive? Is it a "fat" envelope?

Here's a statistic that you guys probably already and should know that can maybe pacify us for awhile until the vague "mid-December":
" 43% of the Columbia College class was admitted through Early Decision."

They have to compare us to other applicants. They're building a class. They need a well-rounded class, not necessarily a well-rounded applicant. And they were asking for financial aid stuff, which doesn't affect the decisions. They're obviously not going to do financial aid for people who don't get in... so they really only have 454 (minus the kids who didn't apply for fin aid) to do fin aid packages for, which is why they wouldn't just tell us when they tell us when we'll find out. They email us on the day decisions come out and send the fat (and unfortunately, flimsy) envelopes on that day as well.

I heard that if you post the same question 5 times, you automatically get rejected.

You should really stop...it's hurting your chances! One more and you're out, buddy.

haha 10 char.

Does anyone know the % of ppl that get deferred. If you get deferred, you are no longer obliged to attend the college right?

around 33% deferred, if i remember correctly. yes, that's right, you are no longer obliged to attend the college if you get deferred and then accepted.

that's so scary lol and what s the percentage that you get accepted through the regular round if you've been deferred?

Columbia doesn't release that statistic, but from my guess it is quite slim. They are going to pick the best of the best from that pile of "deferrees."
