Im currently on my last essay and the question is essentially "why Columbia?". This is my dream school and I want this essay to be perfect. When I think of why I want to go, my initial thoughts are NYC and the core......but those are what everyone is going to write about. They are my honest reasons for wanting to go there and I'm worried if I use them, my essay won't stand out. Does anyone have any advice about this?
Thank you!

Hey, I got in ED to Columbia. I’m incredibly excited!

My advice is- write about what you really love about Columbia! I think that that’s the only way for your love for the school to “shine” through in your essay. You can write about NYC and the Core-- you just have to write about them articulately and in an interesting way. So, write about why the core is important to you, and what NYC has to offer for you. Maybe don’t stress NYC because there are, again, plenty of schools in NYC, as opposed to just one that has Columbia’s Core Curriculum. You should also consider writing about what Columbia has to offer in terms of your major or what you’re interested in. Show that you know the school. And good luck!
