@Maroonsfan I see, so it helps to decide (apparently). That’s good to know (and interesting) if true. Can anyone verify?
hi guys are you able to see the status of your application materials on the Columbia portal? it says i can only check from 9th of feb onwards but my friend can see his already
@ibbi1824 same, I want to see what materials they have received or not
@ibbi1824, what can your friend see? My D can’t see anything except that her application has been submitted.
Hey everyone! I tried to login into the online tracking system and it is prompting me for a “temporary pin.” I’ve only received a Columbia ID, but not a temporary PIN. Are they the same thing or are they 2 separate things? And if they’re not the same, when (approximately) would I receive my PIN? After Feb 9th?
Thanks
I sent in my Columbia application in early December and had my interview in late December with a recent Columbia applicant who lives in my area. Pleasant experience overall- she asked many, prepared questions, some of which were kind of strange, but it was all good. She was very nice and told me a lot about Columbia. I don’t know what it means that I had an interview; I assumed it was just because of proximity, but I won’t worry about it because there’s nothing more I can do anyway.
Also, I recently placed in a regional DECA competition (a business competition) and will be competing in states next
month. Is it worth contacting Columbia about it? It’s not crazy prestigious or anything but I am proud of my accomplishment there.
@boogapenguin same! it’s a bit annoying since other colleges let you see what they have/have not received
@Maxwellequations i can see the same thing as your D that my app has been submitted but my friend could see the checklist of what they have/have not received for his application
@ibbi1824 well can you ask your friend how he can see the checklist?
They wrote in the confirmation email, “We encourage you to track the completeness of your application by visiting your application status page. You may check your status online between February 9, 2015, and March 20, 2015.” No one has access yet!
@sjsprint By status does that mean decision? Does that mean some people could have a decision that early?
@Maroonsfan No. By “you may check your status,” they mean that you can view whether they have received your scores, teacher recs, and other required materials, starting on February 9.
@sjsprint Gotcha. Weird that it takes over a month for the status to be ready to check.
@Maroonsfan I know, right!
Should I be contacting someone if I haven’t gotten an applicant portal yet? I applied on Dec. 26th.

I logged in using my common app email and password. I can’t find the checklist though
Still haven’t received any info regarding any sort of interview… not sure whether or not to be worried. I do live in an area where there are probably Columbia graduates/students (aside from the fact that every significant location is at least a 20 minute drive from my house) who could interview me, so I’m not sure why I haven’t been contacted yet…
when do we get notified of our decisions?
Anyone know the decision dates for Columbia, Cornell, and Harvard? thanks
I’m also a bit worried that I haven’t been contacted for an interview, but I did just get called for another last night, so I guess I’ll just wait. Ivy Day is March 27th btw, for those asking (at least I think).
Columbia tries to have recent graduates do its interviews who hare the most knowledgeable about the school. Old guys who graduated forty years ago would not be helpful.
