Columbia University

Ok so I am a Freshman this year, meaning J am graduating 2021 from Highschool, and I am already really thinking about schools and acceptances. I want to get into Columbia University very badly, and I was just wondering what the chances of me getting in if I continue down my current path.

Statistics:
3.8 GPA, don’t think this is great, but I am going to take a bunch of AP next year.
I took a Duke Tip SAT and got a 28 out of 36.
I am also regularly involved in a volunteering tutoring program in which I tutor less privileged elementary students, and I am also on the Varsity tennis team. I go to a very prestigious private high school as well. Is there a possibility I will be able to continue on this path and still get in?

it is just seriously too early to tell or really really plan, you will drive yourself crazy. its a finite goal. in the meantime just enjoy your classes and try your absolute best… figure out something you like to do and just go at it. doesnt matter about your aps or whatever, it matters what your make out of it. also your standardized test score will definitely change so dont bother taking tests right now bc you have really not gone through high school yet. good luck

Ok thanks I am just really stressing over this.

You still have time before actually having to apply. Just take strong classes and get good grades and I think you’re set. Especially since you’re on a sports team and you do volunteer work. Just add more hours to volunteer and it should be pretty good. Don’t stress so soon!

I honestly wouldn’t worry about it right now. I did the same freshman year and it didn’t do me any favors. Just relax and keep preparing.

A 3.8 is a very good GPA (even better if you take advanced or AP classes) and your ECs are fine!

If you work hard and dedicate yourself I’m sure you can get in, best of luck!
