What is the average size of each class for Freshman?
What is the average class size for Senior?

The class of 2022 has 1436 students.

The total undergraduate population is in the 6000-6100 range, so the senior class size is probably in the 1550 range

If you’re asking about course size, apart from Core courses, there is really no distinction between freshman courses and senior courses, provided prereqs are met. 80% of courses have fewer than 20 students.

skieurope can you respond to Columbia chance me posts?

@j7thletter This was not a chance me thread. I simply provided information about the college that I learned along the way. I rarely chance, and it’s even more rare if I were to do so for a college with a single digit acceptance rate. It’s a nice party game for some students, it seems, but since nobody here has access to the application in full.

On a related subject, please do not post the same request in multiple threads. It’s off-topic and spammy, both of which violate the forum rules. Thanks.

The average class size varies a good bit by major. Intro level Chem, Physics, Calc, Psych, Econ, Bio all had more than 100 some 200 but these were lectures and had world class staff members lecturing. There were also weekly recitations with 20 students led by TAs who were very helpful. Writing classes had a maximum of 15 students some were taught by Profs and some taught by graduate students very far along in their program. My kid had one of these and he was a wonderful teacher. Major classes have had between 5-60. Far lower numbers when they are taking major electives. Most have 20ish in my kids’ major.
