Columbia vs. NYU

Both are great universities. There was recently a time when I had very high interest in New York University, my sister ( now attending MSU) got mail from them often and I began to browse through it and it caught high interest… started to research the school online, found interest… though began to lose it a few months after applying to their mailing list and have yet recieved nothing… though now I can’t put fault on that anymore, since my top choice ( University of Michigan) also never sended me mail after applying to their mailing list, and this was around the same time I applied for NYU mailing.
I will suggest for you to just apply to both and see where you get accepted, if you get into both universities than maybe bump this thread ( or make a new one). Though I can say New York University was ranked number one by princetonreview for worst financial aid, and that is really bad. While Columbia being an Ivy League is likely to meet financial reasons much better.

“Though I can say New York University was ranked number one by princetonreview for worst financial aid, and that is really bad.”

Its financial aid is not “really bad.” Not for Pell Grant recipients or academically/testing strong students with low EFCs. For everyone else, perhaps. But, NYU provides excellent financial aid to disadvantaged and lower middle class applicants.

It happens that most students who enroll at NYU are from wealthy families, who would receive no grant assistance. And, they complain to the Princeton Review. That would explain it.

LOL your backup is wharton? that’s tougher to get into than stern.

nyu stern and columbia are comparable, it really just comes down to where you want to be - morningside heights or the village.

Well i read this thread and he already cleared up the backup thing. Good choice of colleges by the way. I am looking into a lot of the same ones. And contrary to some of the other posts here, I’m glad to see younger students looking into college. I wish i worried about this more as a sophomore cause i’m entering senior year and i don’t know what i’m doing. And as far as the financial aid, i find that most people interested in NYU don’t need it that much. So to all you people putting the college down because its financial aid is bad, maybe artleye doesn’t need it and is dismising it. There are plenty of wealthy affluent families out there that don’t need it. Anyway. I am pretty sure i am applying to the BPE program there and your right it looks amazing. Keep up the good work and don’t worry about any haters on this website that tell you to get of the site or your not qualified and stuff like that. They are probably just ****ed they didn’t get into that school or something and are taking it out on potential students that ACTUALLY have a shot to get in.
