Columbia vs Princeton pre-med

I have been accepted at both schools and was wondering if anyone could elucidate the advantages or disadvantages of both schools and share any experience or anecdotal evidence you may have that may convince one to attend or not attend these schools for someone interested in getting into a good med school. thanks!

Pton:

Pros:
Gorgeous, Suburban Campus
90+% med school acceptance rate
One of the best schools for economics around (you want to understand economics as a doctor…i believe)
Undergraduate Focus (ranked number one)
Big Prestige

Cons:
Grade Deflation (or lack of Grade inflation at an Ivy where competition is stiff)…you will prbly be stressed there
No major med center or hospital REALLY close so it will be hard 2 find clinical research/volunteering there

I dont know much about Columbia…but heres what I do know

Pros:
NYC…lots 2 do and tons of opportunities for internships
Grade Inflation (I havent heard a ton about this though…so it may not be as prominent)
Prestige (Not Pton caliber…but close)
Great Grad schools…again gives you great research/learning opportunities

Cons:
Lower med school acceptance rate than Pton (dont remember exact figure)
Urban (this may be a bad thing for some)
Small Campus (again…this depends on who you talk to)
Financial aid is worse than at Pton

^^^^ Which is why one of my majors is Economics!

They’re both Ivies. Neither one’s going to hinder you in any respect. Pick the one that is a better fit for you/is giving better FA.

Both are great schools. Both will meet your pre-med needs. The environments, day-to-day, are ENTIRELY different. Are you a suburb or a city person? Are you an eating club person? Do you dislike urban hipsters? Choose based on your personal preferences. My Columbia son, raised in the suburbs, had no interest in Princeton. For him, Columbia was the perfect choice. What’s your choice?

Again
THE SCHOOL YOU PICK (WITH VERY RARE EXCEPTION) WILL NOT AFFECT YOU GETTING INTO MED SCHOOL.

GO TO A COLLEGE YOU LIKE. IF YOU LIKE IT, YOU WILL DO WELL. IF YOU DON’T LIKE IT, YOU WILL NOT DO WELL.

THIS FACT HAS BEEN SHOWN IN MANY STUDIES.

Thank you so much for your responses

Princess’Dad,
The undergraduate institution one attends, DOES play a role in the medical school acceptance process. The first recommendation given by professional med school admission coaches is: Go to the BEST school possible, and then get the BEST grades.
