Columbia vs. UPenn Premed

I'm trying to decide between Columbia and UPenn for Premed. Which one is better for med school placement? Is the core curriculum at Columbia a grade killer or a grade booster, for pre-meds? How are the research opportunities around each respective campus?

Im assuming you have been accepted into both! I personally think you should listen to your heart. Forget the statistics! Choose where you will be content and happy! These are 4 years of your life. You gotta enjoy them. Only if you are happy will you be able to keep your grades up! Both schools have pretty good pre med programs! I think it might be hard to keep your GPA up in Columbia due to vigorous curriculum, but it is by no means impossible!
I will be going to University of Houston for pre med, hopefully! You cannot compare it to Columbia or Upenn! Obviously because your mentioned schools are IVY league! The main reason I chose UH is because of the cost. It will be cheaper for me and Im saving up loans for med school! Also, being a texas resident, Im at an advantage over OOS applicants applying to med schools in texas! Houston has the biggest medical centre in the world! A big plus for me since I can shadow doctors and do loads of voluntary work! I also plan on going to Baylor College of Medicine (also in houston) and this way I can get to know the professors more personally that MIGHT facilitate my admission!
I personally choose to ignore the stats because they can be misleading. Just follow your heart and hopefully you’ll be alright!
