Columbia economics major vs. Stern

If you wanna be an i-banker at Goldman NYC office...

What would you choose?

Both are excellent choices and will probably give you equal opportunities. At that point, it will be you, not the school, that will get you the offer.

You might want to compare the 2 schools in terms of academic culture and curriculum. Do you want to study business or economics?

You may also want to consider if you want more of a campus or not. Both schools are extremely different but you cant go wrong with either one. I would say stern is considerably easier to get into though.

uhhhh.. if you got into both.. why in the world would you pick stern over columbia? that's just stupid.

stern would better prepare you for finance, but in the end all that matters is how much effort you put in yourself

and ibanks recruit at columbia, just as much if not more than stern

Columbia econ definitely because it is easier to get a higher GPA, less cutthroat and it gives you more options if you decide to change your career path. Columbia definitely takes this one because in my opinion it can also probably give you a better shot at hedge funds and PE after banking.

Columbia hands down ~~

Its far from easy to get a high GPA at Columbia. The core curriculum is absolutely rigorous.

As for the question> Columbia without a question. In general any of the Ivies will be better than NYU. Location doesn't matter, your alumni base does. Dartmouth might be in the middle of nowhere but even your history majors pull down banking jobs easily. Alumni bases are crucial for recruitment.
