Hi, I'm from New York and intend to major in Computer and Electrical engineering, and minor in business and finances. I am currently choosing between the Fu School of Engineering at Columbia and the University of Michigan at Ann-Arbor but cannot decide. I've visited Columbia numerous times and planning a visit to Michigan but I need to decide soon. Which do you choose for the above studies?

My passion is in computer and electrical engineering but I would like a background in business for the company startup in technology I am currently working on.

Can anyone give me some more perspective? I need to make a decision I'm so torn.

I’m kinda in the same situation about Columbia and Cornell. I’d say definitely visit both campuses and see which one fits you. Do finances factor into the picture?

I think considering Columbia is giving grants and Michigan merit scholarships, etc. my parents are considering it somewhat of an equivalent financially in terms of what financial aid we’ll be receiving/how we’ll pay for it, etc.

I know Columbia like the back of my hand - lived in NYC all my life so I know the area very well. I will be visiting Michigan in about a week. However, as of now, I’d like to know who wins on the grounds of academics (for the majors above, specifically engineering), research, internships, business background, as well as number of intelligent people and potential connections in and around the college.
