Columbia?

I am going into sophomore year and was wondering what you need to get into columbia. In my freshman year I played football and lacrosse and was involved in my high school orchestra playing cello. I had a 4.0 unweighted and weighted. This year I am planning on taking one honors class and continuing my ec's, and my junior year I plan to take 3-4 AP classes. So I was wondering what my chances are in getting into columbia as of right now and what I could do to help my chances when I do in fact apply. Should I add EC's, take more AP's/Honors, volunteer more, study a lot for my SAT's/ACT's, etc… I am willing to try anything to get into columbia because it's the school of my dreams so any advice will help.

Stay dedicated to your current EC’s (football, lacrosse, orchestra) and plan for leadership positions for junior/senior year. Also, pursue other EC’s (ex. clubs, internships/jobs) related to your interests/intended major and keep up your grades. Yes, people that get in to Columbia have good test scores, GPA, etc. but what sets them apart are their extracurricular activities and awards/honors plus killer essays (which you don’t have to worry about for two years). Otherwise, Columbia is quite the longshot, and no one can really give you a list of 10 things that you must do to get in. This applies to any college in the top 20.

Good Luck! :)

did you have any APs/honors courses offered freshman/sophomore year that you just didn’t take?

Honors english was the only AP/honors course offered for freeman/sophomore year that I did not take but that is it

You’re gonna be a sophomore just chill don’t be college thirsty

That shouldn’t be a problem unless you’re planning on majoring in something English-related
I’d say that as long as you’re taking the most rigorous schedule OFFERED to you, you should be fine in terms of class selection
