Hello,
I got into the Mass Communication Program but I’m thinking of changing to the Film and TV program. But I’m a bit confused, are the Film and TV programs separate or is there a single major called “Film and TV”? and if I want to change my major when should I inform BU about it?

degree requirements for film and for tv: http://www.bu.edu/bulletins/und/item17c2.html#anchor03

courses for film and tv, with detailed descriptions:

the film and tv program is one program, but each still has its own requirements. if u were majoring in film and u met all the film requirements, u can take the rest of your courses in tv and you'd still have a film major.

i'm not sure what it says on the diploma and what your "official" major would be.

don't hold me to this.. but as long as you're switching majors in the same school (COM) and u haven't officially declared it in sophomore year, it's no big deal. a few documents may say you're majoring in mass comm. other than that, i don't think there are any problems.

You don't officially declare until sophomore year, and up until then, you are taking intro courses where they expect people to change their minds about majors. It is no big deal within the same school. Also, just to clarify, your diploma will say you have a BS in TV and Film, but you have to pick a track of either TV or Film. There is some crossover, but the basic requirements are slightly different, ie Film Studies vs TV Revolution, Film Production vs Video Production. Once you take your requirements, though, you can take any classes in the department.

Thanks a lot for all the info dramaqueen and nathan.
