Combined Math/CS BS program

Hi,

My D is a high school junior interested in the combined Math/CS program. Does anyone know whether it’s possible for the student to pursue this combined degree both either as a student in College of Science (Math Dept) or as a studen in CCIS (CS Dept)? It seems most students are in this program are CCIS students? My D is more interested in Math than CS, so she would want to be in the Math Dept pursuing this dual degree.

All combined degrees are “owned” by one school. The CS/Math program is owned by the CCIS school. However, both the math department and CS department will consider the student as being in their department and one of their majors.

There is no division of students by either school or department so being “in the Math dept” vs. being a CCIS student doesn’t mean anything. You will be able to apply for co-ops that list either major in their requirements (although I think all Math majors and joint Math majors are required to take the one create post co-op Math class.)

My daughter was a combined econ/math major. She was invited to all events/activities sponsored by both departments.
