Come one Come all, chance me please!

hello, i am an instate student, i have a 1950 SAT (hoping to get up to 2000+), current ASB president to a school of 1600, ASB treasurer last year, captain of the science bowl team, 4 year cross country team member, 1 year baseball, 3 years golf, 75 hours of community service, plenty of school scholar awards for science, 8 AP classes, and 1 college credit (running start) class" extremely rigorous schedule. the only problem i have is my 2.8 GPA... how detrimental will that be for me getting accepted into UW, or other top of the line colleges?

The GPA is a bit troublesome, it will probably hurt you more when looking at out of state schools than at UW though. UW is pretty forgiving GPA-wise, and the rest of your resume is impressive, so I’d give you a good chance (75 - 85 %) of getting in. That said, admissions were really finicky this year, so write good essays on your application, and most importantly, turn it in ASAP. I can’t stress how important turning the application in early is.

Don’t trust what I say because I am also aspising to get into UW also… but that sounds great. UW recently has started paying way more attention to extracurriculars in comparsion with earlier years. You definitely have a lot of those haha. Be sure to raise that GPA, even if it might be a little late… and make sure to get more service hours. 75 is a little weak.

i dont think yo ucan get in with a 2.8…sorry

but good luck

I think you can get in. The fact that you took a lot of AP classes (hope you also take the test) and your EC especially ASB president, that speaks volume. Plus, your SAT is pretty good for a first time test taker. So, congratulations. Just make sure to bring your gpa up next year.

when I applied I had a 3.3 (a lot of AP classes) with a little better SAT’s than that and I got rejected (later came in as a transfer student), my other friend had a 3.3 with a 2160 SAT score (800 math) and he got rejected. I did have a friend who had like a 3.4 with your sat scores and he got in, and I do know one guy with a 2.9 who got in.

I’m not trying to be mean and in fact I really hope you get in, I’m just being realistic.
