Coming home for holidays/breaks

My daughter is an incoming freshman and I just started to look at booking flights home to California for the holidays. They are expensive! Does anyone know how Boco reacts if a student leaves a day before the official recess (or return a day after the recess ends)? Thanksgiving recess is so short to fly home to CA, yet I know my daughter wants to be home for the holiday… Do most students leave for Thanksgiving?

I am also from California and our daughter never came home for Thanksgiving only Christmas Break. Jet Blue and Virgin do have some Ok deals but mostly you end up paying from $250 to $450 round trip. It is an added cost of having a college student on the East Coast.
There were many students who spent Thanksgiving with their new friends and it all seemed to work out nicely
As far as leaving early and coming back late this can be arranged but reguires talking to all teachers and getting schedules moved . It does impact auditions as they are during the first days at semester start.
Hope your daughter enjoys going to BoCo, we have just graduated and I am missing her being there already.

Forget about Thanksgiving…your daughter will be so busy and so grateful for a couple of days off, she may not want to come home! I am only 6 hours away by car or train, and an inexpensive short flight, but my kid doesn’t even come home from spring break anymore.

Winter holiday can be tough to leave early, depending on when finals fall. You may have a voice final on a Saturday. It’s not during your regular class because it’s in front of a jury. That’s the only problem with booking early.

We live near NYC and my daughter has only come home for Thanksgiving once.
