I take exception when people start attacking making personal attacks at my kid, then dragging in their own race bias. It’s getting old.

So have fun with the Alden6011. My last kid is moving on to college, I’m moving on too. Best wishes to those who are starting their boarding school journey - it will be the time of your life no matter which school you attend. I have no regrets and would do it again in a heartbeat.

Cheers. It’s been fun folks.

Thanks, @London. You can always PM if you need anything.

Before this thread gets shut down, I just wanted to add that PelicanDad is right- unless we are current prep school admissions officers or college counselors, none of us are “experts” on any of this. I could be wrong, but I thought that the spirit of “College Confidential” was to share our own personal experiences in the hope of helping others, or gaining insight. Once again, I find myself sorry that I joined in a discussion on these boards.

@baystateresident: How do you think I feel for starting this particular discussion!?! ;-P

Exie, if you’re still reading –
I’m new, but I’ve raed a number of your posts, and have found many of them very helpful. Thanks for sharing, and all the best to you and yours.

Tell me this is all some April Fool’s joke gone bad, occurring a day too late and leaving such an unpleasant stain.

Tell me Alden6011, that you just had a terrible, horrible, not so good day, and the vitriol leveled at Exie is an unpleasant aberration. It lingers heavily, forcing even a cave-dwelling lurker like myself to clamber out into the sun to say “stop the madness.”

@Pelican and Baystate - I am no doubt slow and have all of about 5 posts to my name, but where on this thread is anyone claiming to be an expert? This was an accusation hurled, but not one professed as far as I can tell.

@SevenDad and Baystate - I enjoy reading your comments very much, but don’t end with the “I find myself sorry” stuff. You’re so much more thoughtful than that.

We’re potential first time BSers. My DS is still weighing his choices. But I have learned SO very, very much from all of you, having read nearly the whole prep school forum.

@Exie, you do what’s right for you, but I have really appreciated your generosity, patience and insight in many, many different posts. Thank you.

Okay, back to my cave now.
