how can people who have been admitted early decision have their acceptances taken away in february when cornell receives the mid year report. these people will not be able to apply to other schools since the deadlines are jan/feb 1st. how is there anyway that cornell can take away acceptance because it will ruin the person's future by not being able to apply to another school. also, how low do your grades have to have to go for them to consider taking you out of the new class?

They usually only put people on probation when they arrive at the school if the grade drop is significant. Also they wait to notify you of this once they receive your final transcript. If your mid-year grades are bad they will tell you to shape up. Usually, only 12 or so people really get their admissions rescinded.

Any other comments on being rescinded? Source? What kind of GPA is too low?

I was looking at the stats for last years admissions, and of all the people who were accepted ED, only 9 did not enroll. It would seem like you have to really screw up to have your acceptance revoked. I havent gotten my letter in the mail yet, but Im hoping it gives some detail in this area.

For anyone who has already recieved their letter, did it say anything about this?

just that they have the ability to take your acceptance away...but i mean think about it. they dont get our grades until february which is way after the deadline to apply to any other schools. what are we supposed to do, sit here for a year because we got a couple c's? i highly doubt they take away your acceptance unless you have a failing average or close to.

Where would you start getting nervous? 1.0 point GPA drop?

if you are getting anything below a C... most of the time colleges just make you work off the bad grade with an essay or other thing.

If you're lazy enough to drop to near failing, you probably don't belong at Cornell anyway.

So true...I remind myself that whenever I feel like slacking off now.

But it's definitely a great feeling not to worry so much about grades anymore.

This is true.

I would think you shouldn't have any one class go below an 80 average, at my school that is a C+(80-83), and at other schools that is the lowest B, so I think as long as all of your grades are above a C+/B 80 average you should be fine, but i don't know for sure

Must... force... self... to stay... motivated! LOL

Senoritis - JUST SAY NO!

what if you get below a c just in one class? and everything else is like a b or something?

what class?
