Comments on Advanced General Biology/ Chemistry

What are your thoughts on these classes?

How are they compared to regular classes...curves...grading...

Is it a good idea to take these classes if you're pre-med?

Is it like the Thematic Option Program or is it better in the respect of time, curves, grading, etc.

I'd really appreciate your help.

Many thanks

At the FSH meeting, I was told by the director that there are no curves in Advanced Bio/Chem in order to prevent competition and promote cooperation.

I think it's a good idea for pre-med because it (supposedly) has research opportunities.

Though it might sound odd to those weaned on high school counselors and teachers telling you which honors courses and AP courses will help you get into college or bring up your weighted GPA, sometimes it's good to take an advanced class just because you'll learn more, plain and simple.

Though it's a tougher course and more homework, and possibly even a GPA hit, more advanced courses really "bring out the best" in you and make you achieve more. In the long run, no one will really care if your GPA is +/- 0.05 points, but you'll appreciate learning this stuff.

Jbusc, I agree with you completely.
I enjoy learning for what it's about, but I feel I have to also consider different things as well--mainly medical school admissions which I think is truly a numbers game.

Any other comments will be appreciated.
