Next year my college is offering a non credit pre med educational seminar that includes workshops on interviewing, preparing your AMCAS application, writing personal statements and developing solid shadowing experiences among other important topics. If you complete it you get a university level "committee letter" that supposedly gives you an edge in applying for med school. Have you guys heard of this? Does your college offer this program? Just curious, thanks.

Lots of schools offer committee letters. Very few make you jump through so many hoops to get one.

NCG’s right that this is a bit of a stretch, but:

1.) Having to jump through hoops might be a reason to go to a different school, but you’re at this one now.
2.) Committee letters are very valuable.
3.) Actually, this set of workshops sounds amazing. Very useful even on its own. Seriously, absolutely take it.

i wish my college has this… our pre med committee does write letters, but im not sure how good they are…

i mean, you dont really know people in the committee, so i dont know how much weight they carry either…

i didnt understand the jumping hoops metaphor

yea as BDM said, the non credit class do look promising, u won’t have get on CC or other forums for many of the questions…
