Common App Activities Section

Hello,

I currently have one spot left on my common app activities section, but I have to choose one activity from three that I want to use and I am not sure which one would be the best choice. The three activities are:

Key Club: I have been in this club since freshman year, and have completed 50 hours of service each year, but I hold no leadership position in it.

National English Honor Society: This honor society was just introduced at our school this year, so this is the first year I will be doing it. However, in order to be a member of it, you had to be accepted through an application, whereas in key club, anyone can join.

Tennis: I played tennis my freshman and sophomore year but held no leadership positions.

Which activity should I use to fill this last spot? Would one look better than the other due to how long I’ve been in it?

You don’t have to fill up all 10. Evaluate your application— are there gaps one of these activities could help fill? Which one did you like the most?

Tough to answer not knowing the other 9 activities, I lean toward including the Key club with 50 service hours/year.

You can put the National English Honor Society in Honors rather than activities.

I feel the same way. We had to help move around French Honor Society for my daughter into Honors so she can add an activity that she considers very important. Since you have been into Key Club since Freshman year, it’s good to add that to the activities I feel.
