Common App Arts Supplement Questions

Hey everyone! I have some questions about the Arts Supplement for the common application for Musical Theater. Not that I wouldn't be able to, but it seems like a waste of time and resources to fill out an entire supplement when I would be bringing the exact same materials to pretty much all of my auditions. One of my friends who is applying to similar colleges that I am said that I don't have to fill out the arts supplement if I don't want to, and some colleges, such as Emerson will refuse to take it. Is this true? Thanks!

Audition based and portfolio driven admits have a whole different set of parameters than the typical academic admittance process. While a number of MT schools may in fact use the Common App, the supp is unnecessary if your intent is to apply as an MT major. Your specific application process (as well as audition requirements and timing) will be detailed on the each institution’s MT program admissions page. These will vary be school. Any doubts, questions about the process should be addressed directly to the department.
