I've done some searching around the forum and haven't been able to find any clear answer to this. What time is the common app due on the day of the deadline? Also, are time zones factored into this?

You searched this forum, but did you consider searching the Common App Applicant Support Center? Here’s what it says:

All application deadlines are as of 11:59pm ET on the stated deadline day. The Common Application records all dates (deadlines, form submission dates, payment dates) in Eastern Time. Schools not located in the eastern time zone may choose to extend their application deadlines to the end of a deadline day in their local time zone, or may accept your documents up until the posted deadline in their local time zone (even though your submission time stamp will be recorded in Eastern Time.) For example, a school located in California may accept your application until 2:59am Eastern Time, which is equivalent to 11:59pm Pacific Time. Since this is on a school-by-school basis and this is not information that may not be available to you, we recommend you submit based on the Eastern Time deadline. Most colleges will accept the submission if it is within a reasonable time period around their deadline.

My daughter sent her common application for early decision consideration on October 30th.
On the Common Application website, it says it was downloaded on November 2nd.
If this is the case, her application is LATE!
Fortunately, I printed the receipt which has the October 30th date.
Why did this happen and do we now have a problem?

4KidsMom–

The date an application is submitted and the date it is downloaded by the college are two distinct items. Your daughter submitted her application by the deadline and has nothing to worry about. The college probably downloaded it from the Common App Online system on November 2 because that was the first business day after October 30. It’s as if your daughter had mailed her application postmarked October 30 but the college didn’t open the envelope until November 2–or later. Everything is fine.

Thank you!
