My DD submitted a supplemental (first choice school) where she did not italicize the title of a newspaper and a magazine. How bad is this??? Trying to reassure her so she can move on with many more essays - but…???
@momartist14 The fortmatting on the common app and supplemental essays is not like using word, there are so many formatting features not available and they are totally use to that. Breaking between paragraphs can even be challenging, but they get that. It is something she shouldn’t worry about at all. Zero zip nada to worry about. Congrats on getting in done and so early - bravo! With 4 college kids and zillions of essays between them, we learned you submit and never look back. If you do enough proof reads before it is sent, it is then best to hit the send button and let them go.
She will be automatically rejected. Similarly, an applicant will be automatically rejected if they italicize incorrectly. e.g. The Boston Globe instead of the Boston Globe.
Just kidding. Formatting does not matter. The Common App’s formatting options suck anyway, and every AO knows this.
