<p>My common app essay is 640 words. Is that gonna hurt me? (my essay isn't repetitive, its just detailed, which is why its longer)</p>
<p>Cut unnecessary detail that adds nothing to the essay. When you have trimmed all the fat, the length will be perfect (regardless of the word count).</p>
<p>Do cut out some of the unnecessitated things, If you have 530 words still, you'll be fine. They aren't going to go count every word of the essay.</p>
<p>Okay i've cut it down to 600 words. From what ive heard about other ppl's lengths, this might be 'alright'</p>
