Common App-essay on transferring--uni. specificity??

So, I am applying to universities H and S. On the Common app. (not the supplement), do I write a generic personal statement addressing my reasons to transfer, without bringing in the names of H and S. I ask this, because as I understand, the common app should go to both H and S, and therefore, I shouldn't be writing a specific-uni esssay..

PLease HELP!

Either: Write a generic statement for the CA and address reasons for liking H or S in their supplements.

Or: Write a specific Statement for the CA, submit to one school, edit it, and send it to the other school.

Agree with entomom’s always helpful advice, as usual ;).

I was sort of wondering the same thing…I’m writing a generic essay and then on some of the supplements it asks why you want that specific school.

Remember that versioning is allowed, so getting specific never hurts. And it might help demonstrate interest in the school, by going into detail, such that you gain a boost of sorts. Of course, if you screw up, and somehow send the wrong version, you’ve all but ensured rejection. So tread carefully when doing this.

Does this involve deleting all schools except for just one and then submitting it and then readding the other school while deleting the previous one???

no, you don’t need to do that. if you go to the help section while logged into the common app and look at question 5, “How can I create an alternate version of my application” it goes through the steps on how to create them.

The Common App really needs to fix this. Granted; it answers how to go about addressing a specific university without sending that one app everywhere, but it should do this automatically without having students search for an answer in the FAQ or even asking at all. A simple button could fix this like, “Send to SchoolX ONLY” and “Send to ALL.”
