Common App Essay Word Limit

In reference to the along essays, is there a word limit. I could not find it anywhere saying otherwise. I wanted to confirm if this is the case, and if there actually is not a word limit.
I am about about 650; I want to know if that is acceptable
Thanks all

There’s no limit, but if you’re writing over 1,000 words you probably have some editing to do. 650 is perfectly fine.

It turned out to be 800. Guess that is under a 1000 eh

299, is that about 3 pages double spaced?

northeastmom: 299 is almost a page double spaced I believe.

Thanks! My son just finished writing his long essay and I just wanted to make sure that it was not too long!

I did not double space mine. Mine is about 1.25 pages long.

Why do you guys double space your essays? What’s the point

Miss Princeton, my son had a special paper app offered to him (waived app fee, early notification, optional essay, etc.) for a school. He double spaced the essay for it to make it easier to read. He has not even looked at the common app yet.

He probably should so that he knows what he should write about.
Otherwise, he could just find that his essay does not address any of the Commonapp questions.
Unless, he is doing an entirely question that is not even related to the Commonapp…
Good luck to yer son

299, thanks, and good luck to you too! His would fit the choose your own topic one, so I guess it doesn’t really matter.

Oh, thank you, northeastmom. It makes sense to me now

mine just hit 3 pages single spaced. but it’s interesting.

Common App gives no word limit. But a school to which you’re applying might have one.

Or he could just chose ‘Topic of your choice’ :D
