common app upper limit?

i know the common app has a lower bound of 250 words

but it does not specify an upper limit

that being said, ive heard about the no more than 2 pages double spaced rule

unfortunately, my common app essay is 984 words, 2 and 5/6th pages double spaced

but its just sooo passionate and removing anything would be severely detracting from its meaning!

what should i do?

anyone?

10 characters

P.S. it is now closing in on 1100 because i had to add another paragraph to further develop something

That seems way too long to me for a common app essay even if there is not upper limit. Are you sure there’s nothing you can cut out? If I were an admissions officer I met get angry with you for writing so much, unless of course your essay is beautifully crafted and flows well.

I agree completely with thebass. These people have to read tons of apps every day, I’d just get ticked off that you’re making me spend so long on yours. Unless it’s like extraordinarily captivating, you need to cut it down at at most 800ish words… which some people would consider still too long, but I think it’s okay.
Why don’t you send it to someone to edit, and have them tell you if they get bored halfway through? :D
