Hey im still trying to finish up my common app essay for college.. yet i keep wondering if relating my life to Batman is not serious enough?

Its for the prompt that asks to relate a significance of a character in fiction has had on your life.

Shrug I’m just another student, so my opinion isn’t really helpful, but I wrote about Nancy Drew. At least we’ll be unserious together!

anything works as long as you can make it meaningful. I chose that prompt too. Taken out of context, my choice is pretty silly.

okay cool. That makes me feel better because I didn’t wanna right about say MLK or Washington…

Did you write about just a single experience that the character had on you or several?

Because i went with several, but maybe the admissions would like more of a focus on one signicant experience

My character pretty much had one influence on me. It wasn’t a “epiphany” thing like one day I met that character and my life was forever changed. More like how it shaped my approach to life?

As to one vs several experiences, i think it really doesn’t matter. Mine was tied to my culture/background so any anecdote seemed out of place, considering the tone.
