If I submit the common app and the JHU essays (for a total of three essays), will all three be evaluated?

Perhaps I should explain what I meant...

If you use the JHU app, there are two required essays: the money in your pocket, and the academic interests.

However, if you submit the common app, it says that the common app essay fulfills the JHU essay requirement, but you may submit these two essays if you'd like.

I searched essays, and there was a question, "If I want to submit an additional essay, can I do it in the 'additional information' box?"
Admissions Daniel said that if you had something more to say, that wouldn't be a bad idea; however, the essay may not be evaluated if the reader doesn't have time, and if you already wrote the two required essays.

What I'm asking is, submitting the common app essay + the two required essays is akin to sneaking in this third essay, no? If so, does the same rule apply here (the essay may not be evaluated if the other two are written)?

Thanks.

I am the person who asked question about the additional essay. That question only applied to the JHU online app not the Common App. IMO the CommonApp essay and the optional JHU essays will both be read in your case-since the Admissions people strongly encourage you do do the JHU optional essays.

how long r ur essays?

im looking at 200-300 words each

My free day essay was 633 words, and my academic interest essay was 241 words. AdmissionsDaniel said before that the free day essay is typically 500-1000 words and the academic interest one is less than 500.

tennisdude -- if you are applying with the common app. and you decide to submit three essays (1 - Common App. and 2 - JHU supplement essays), all three essays will be reviewed. Emphasis will be placed on the JHU essays, but all three will be taken into consideration. (Do note, you do note need to submit the common app. essays if you are doing the 2 JHU supplemental essays.)

for a student applying with the JHU application, then there will be the two JHU essays. If you choose to submit a supplemental essay in addition to the two JHU essays, then it will be considered supplemental and therefore there is no guarantee that it will be reviewed. (It probably will be read though.)

As far as word count -- do a search of the archives, I have posted many times on that topic.
