Common App Main Essay: Business

<p>I am currently working on my Common App essay and a question came up. If my intended major is business (I'll be applying to schools like Cornell AEM, Northwestern, Georgetown McDonough, NYU Stern, etc.), would it be better to focus on conveying my personality traits, unique voice, and other things regarding who I am... rather than writing an essay revolving around business?</p>

<p>More specifically, I am planning to write about either my love for playing guitar or how I started my eBay business for the main essay. Which topic would be better?</p>

<p>Or would it be better to write about the eBay business in the 150-word EC short answer?</p>

<p>Mm I wasn't planning to send it to anyone to read. I just wanted to know if it was better to stick to writing about myself for the main essay rather than something about business (and show that business interest in the supplements, instead).</p>
