common app problem - big

so, my essays fit into the common application supplemental form. but when i print preview them, only half of 1 essay shows up, and another essay is missing the bottom line. should i submit it as it is, and then email the office with the entire essay? or should i what?

i fixed the second essay, i just have one essay that is half cut off.

anyone? helppp

How long is it (words)?
If its over 500, you might to reconsider writing a shortened essay??

330 words, but the character limit is 2500, and i am at 2000.

I hate common app. I had a hard time with my essays as well, but nothing like this. I don' know what could be taking the character space up like that. Did you double space your essay in the text box or use any weird characters?

well, i have paragraphs (3). but i didnt double space it, ive used the least amount of spacing as possible.

ARGHHH! Im completely stumped then! Sry. But your idea is starting to sound decent. Maybe you can MAIL them your essays. Which college(s) is it, and when are the deadlines?

the deadline's today. it's nyu and now skidmore. :(

im cutting skidmore's essays down from 300 words to 200 and theyre starting to fit. but its so annoying that i was below the character limit and my essays would not fit. nyu's i can do nothing to, bc it has speaking in it, which is prob why it wont fit.

OOOO I APPLIED TO NYU!! I GOT A SOLUTION! Instead of common app., use the NYU online application. You should have no problems there. For skidmore, hmm, dont know anything about that college. I would email them it. I don't know if thats a good idea or not, but thats what I would do.

i would use nyu's app, except my teacher rec is on the common application form.

i think they suggest copying and pasting the document from the common app into notepad, and then deleting all the little boxes and unnecessary space. sometimes there are just weird things that normal people have no idea are there.

i did that. :/

I cant think of anything else. Im sry. Good luck though!

okay, well here is my second piece of advice. i had the problem w/ my gwu essay, except i didn't check it before i submitted it... which trust me is worse than the situation you are in now. what i did was i printed it out and mailed it to them, with a letter explaining my situation. keep trying to it to fit, but if it doesn't then just mail it to them tomorrow.

Try removing spaces after paragraphs. Or if you have time you can e-mail me your essay as an attachement (PM me and I'll give you me e-mail) and I'll fix it for you (I sumbitted 22 Common Apps so I've gotten good at it)

I FIXED IT!!!! :D

thank you everyone for your advice.

in case youre curious, i just cut down my essays until they fit. i lost some of the content, but at least i have an essay on my application.
